Common care schedules

These are the rotation patterns most parents start from. Use the Quick start buttons above to apply one, then adjust individual days.

Week on, week off (7/7)
The child spends one full week with each parent, alternating. The fewest handovers of any 50/50 schedule — often used for school-age children.
2-2-3
Two days with one parent, two with the other, then three, swapping each week. Frequent contact with both homes — common for younger children.
2-2-5-5
Two days with each parent, then five with each. The child is with the same parent on the same weekdays every week, which is easy to remember.
3-4-4-3
The week is split roughly in half, with one handover midweek and one at the weekend. A balanced 50/50 split that keeps each block short.
Every other weekend
The child lives mostly with one parent; the other has every second weekend and a fixed weeknight. A common pattern when one home is the primary residence.
